Keith Burton's photos with the keyword: pine cone

We grow flowers in large pots in our front garden and we collect pine cones to put on the surface of the soil to deter slugs and snails from getting to the plants. They help to keep the soil moist in the summer as well. We found this pine cone with tiny mushrooms growing in it in one of the pots, something I've never seen before. I took it out of the pot and put in on the grass to take a photo and then returned it.

Found these on the forest floor during a walk and took them home to photograph on the tabletop. The original colour version is in the PiP. Personally I prefer this version. Treat yourself........go large!

I know the one on the left is a bit wonky.............I tried to get it to stand upright but got bored trying! "If at first you don't succeed - give up!"

The missing seeds scattered to the wind, or more likely, snaffled by squirrels or birds..!!

There were lots of these around so I used a narrow depth of field to make this one stand out from the background.

That lovely out-of-focus background is made up of grass, daisies and fallen pine cones.

On a Red Pine tree. Still a bably, but growing fast. It's a male, apparently.
