Taken in my garden. When I took this photo I thought that maybe the bee would have a chance to escape, but I couldn't wait around as I had an appointment. A couple of hours later I went and had another look and it was obvious the bee wasn't going anywhere (see the image in the PiP) as the spider had been well and truly subdued, although it must have taken a while. The PiP is not quite as sharp as the main image as it had got quite windy.......but it serves its purpose. So a good day for the spider........not so good for the bee!

I'm afraid I'm not sure what the flower is (possibly a variety of Dahlia)? If anyone knows I'd be grateful. Please view large if you have time.........thank you.

This is one of the few surviving dahlias growing in a pot in my front garden.

At around 2cm long this is the largest hoverfly in the UK. It is an excellent mimic of the Hornet, which gains it some protection from predators. It is harmless to humans. Taken in my garden on one of our Buddliea bushes. Please view large for best effect...............and check out another view in the PiP.

Back garden macro. Stuck at home today waiting for some furniture to be collected and for some electrical repairs to be done. Got told to go out and play in the garden and stop being miserable :(
