Bracket Fungi - A Natural Abstract

07 Jan 2022 31 28 252
Taken in my back garden. This fungi are growing on the decaying stump of an old apple tree. I was struck by the abstract nature of it when getting really close up. Go large for best effect if you wish. Thanks for looking..............and have a great weekend..!!

Auricularia Auricula - Judae

07 Mar 2018 9 8 414
Otherwise known as Jelly Ear Fungus. I spotted this yesterday on the remains of a fallen tree. It took a bit of searching, but I'm pretty sure I have the correct ID..........unless you know differently, in which case please update me. The examples I found online seem darker in colour than these, but this may because of the recent snow/heavy frosts we've had. Two images posted if it helps. It seems the common name for this fungus is regarded as non-PC nowadays - it's now known as Jelly Ear Fungus. Thanks to Ben (Fratton Parker) for confirming the ID.

Taken in Dennys Wood after the rain! I used my Nikon 1 V1 with the FT-1 adaptor and a Nikon 40mm macro lens. I also used the Nikon SB N-7 speedlight.......although on reflection I wish I'd just used natural light.
