Autumn Fern

Taken in mid October during a walk in some local woodland. This will be the last photo I post in 2022 (although I still have lots more taken this year to post yet)! I would like to thank everyone who has visited my photo stream over the past year, especially those who have commented and/or left a yellow star. Always appreciated and makes sharing worthwhile. I look forward to seeing all your photos in 2023 and I would like to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy and Healthy New Year :-))

From a dying fern in my garden.........photographed indoors in natural window light using a bit of green card as a background. Even in this deteriorating condition, I still think it's quite lovely.........and I like the symmetry as well.

I saw this in the Bishop's Palace Garden in Chichester, West Sussex yesterday. As well as the changing colours I really like the pattern the leaves make. Please try it large. Thanks for looking.

Fern spores are the tiny genetic bases for new plants. They are found contained in a casing, called sporangia, on the underside of the leaves. These are from a fern growing in my garden.

Fern angel

I loved the shape of this - almost as if it was holding out it's wings to me! (.........or maybe I'm just losing it)!!
