HDR from 3 bracketed exposures (handheld). Had a random drive around with Alby this afternoon on a hunt for photographic opportunities. Disappointing weather again.......grey drab skies and not very warm. Good to get out though after a week of late shifts and spend the afternoon in good company!!

Part of a bench in the grounds of St Marys Church, North Marden, West Sussex. I like the textures in the wood and the flint wall of the church. This was originally posted in April 2013 as part of a huge amount of photos transferred across from Flickr and as such have had little attention on Ipernity. Hope you like it. It looks much better viewed large. Happy Bench Monday and have a good week everyone!

No guns, no knives!

Found this colourful mosaic memorial with a serious message in a graveyard in Hove.

The little church in the middle of a field. Shame the sky wasn't a little more dramatic, but at least it wasn't raining!

Originally a chapel of ease to East Marden and perhaps always approached through a farmyard, St Mary's is believed to have been founded by Geoffrey, son of Azo, late in the 12th century. It consists of an undivided nave and chancel. The chancel has a semi-circular (apsidal) end, and is one of only six small churches in England that has one. The principal feature of the church is the elaborate Norman south doorway. Made of Caen stone, this was probably shipped across the channel to Chichester harbour and then transported by packhorse to North Marden. Monthly children's services are held in the church which is lit by candles as there is no electricity.

Just added to show how close the trees are to the church, and how long the bench in the grounds is! Nicer light in this version though.

Had to pop out to Havant this morning to collect stuff from Post Office. Took a few shots with the Fuji X10 while I was out. All edited in Snapseed.

Nothing like a good book.........
