I don't know about you all, but sunflowers always make me smile, even on an overcast morning like this. Taken in the Idsworth Valley in the South Downs National Park last Friday.
These are the ones in the foreground of my photo of St Hubert's church: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/51518604 which was taken later in the day after the sun came out briefly.
The Little Church in the Field

My contribution to the World Photography Day group. I have taken lots of photos of this church over the years and it remains one of my favourite places. The landscape changes throughout the year, and so do the crops planted in the field. This year it is sunflowers. The foreground gets very wet and boggy in the winter time as the rain runs off the hill towards the road.........hence the reason for the little bridge.
It is also a very peaceful place. Sometimes when I visit, I like to sit on a bench in the church grounds and just enjoy the views and the quietness.
I initially arrived here mid-morning but it was overcast and drizzling with rain. The sunflowers were all facing towards the church, which I wanted to get in the photo, so although I took some photos I was disappointed.
I revisited again later in the day when the sun was out and took this photo. Unfortunately the sunflowers were still facing in the wrong direction, but I decided this was the best I was going to get and anyway, the rain clouds were gathering again.
Out of several shots I took, this was my wife's favourite........so if you don't like it I can blame her. No pressure :-)
Please view large, on black. Thanks for looking and have a good day!

Taken on Hayling Island at the Stoke Fruit Farm sunflower fields A lovely evening out with my wife, both daughters and one of my grandchildren.
The sunflowers were a little worse for wear due to the unusually high temperatures we've been having together with no rain for a while, but still quite lovely.

I thought I'd finish the weekend with a couple more sunflower images from Hayling Island. I discovered these towards the end of the season and as you can see some of the flowers are looking a bit forlorn. They've also had quite a battering this past two weeks from high winds and heavy rain. I'll have to get here earlier next year!
Best viewed large, on black.
I may not be able to keep up with commenting etc this week as we have our younger daughter and the grandchildren staying with us.
Thanks for looking.
