The lock gates. I had to balance in the middle of one set of gates to get this shot of the other set. We were just starting to lose the light by then, so this was one of my last few shots.. Please view large, on black.

Happy Fence Friday everyone. This lock is hanging on a barbed-wire fence at the top of Portsdown Hill. I took a photo of it last year and liked it so much I thought I'd take another!!

I watched a few narrowboats negotiating the locks and I was struck by the fact that in most cases the menfolk were steering (usually with a pint of beer in front of them) whilst the womenfolk were running up and down the canal-side doing all the hard work!
