Another Stansted forest find: This is an empty husk of a sweet chestnut, which has fallen from the tree. Check out the PiP to see another that is in much better condition, taken in Autumn.

Taken during a walk in Stansted Forest just over a week ago. A leaf and two empty shells from a Sweet Chestnut tree hanging from a branch.

Taken in Stansted Forest, Hampshire. Best viewed large, on black. Thank you. The PiPs show a fallen Sweet Chestnut and a Parasol Mushroom (at it's "drumstick" stage before the Parasol forms).

In the Forest of Bere this afternoon spotted this Squirrel feeding station tucked away under a Sweet Chestnut tree. You can quite clearly see where they've been opening and eating the chestnuts.
