This evening, this is the view in our dining room window with my wife's amaryllises starting to bloom, and a neighbour's Christmas lights beyond. We too have Christmas lights on outside despite being two weeks out of the official season. It is meet and right so to do in the gloomy stormy weather we get in January. And the amaryllis blooms add to that counter-gloom.
