Until sometime in the early 1980s, I called this plant "Poison blueberry." Then I learnt it was called Clintonia -- for some obscure American politician. However, I immediately associated it with the "other" Clinton who, for reasons I cannot remember since he was merely a state governor at the time, was in the news at that time, forty years ago. Its blue berries look almost nothing like the edible blueberry, and not as pleasant either. Its flowers are very pretty. This was this afternoon, mid-June.
