Yesterday while walking on our favourite close-to-home deserted road, we saw two birds that don't come much around our door: a Red-breasted nuthatch and a Golden-crowned kinglet. In fact we've never seen a kinglet at our house. But no more than a half kilometre away from our door, as the kinglet might fly if it chose, there he was, with a friend. I got no good pictures yesterday of them, but enough to prove I saw them. Today we went back and found the kinglet pair again, but once again I failed to get a clear picture. I'll keep trying. But I did take this picture of the view from that deserted road, towards the setting sun, over the city, and over a road rather less deserted.
