Yesterday, my wife and I went to our little garden plot (about three by five metres) to dig our potatoes. This was the entire harvest. It wasn't disappointing because we'd actually planted no potatoes. They came from three "volunteer" plants -- ones that started up on their own as a result of potatoes the previous owner of the plot left in the ground over the winter. It was a nice surprise to see them growing. We've had one meal and will probably get two more, maybe a third. In case you're wondering how much, it's about two pounds or about a kilogram. My mother would have said it's a half-gallon of potatoes.
