I was sitting drinking my beer (a local porter, actually), waiting for supper to ready itself, when I realised I'd seen about two dozen pictures of people's dogs on the social media stream I was attentive to. Apparently it is International Dog Day. The cat let it be known she wasn't amused by the thought of a day devoted to dogs. And then I saw the fruit fly swimming in my beer -- doing, it must have been, the dog-paddle.
