A goldfinch was basking in the late afternoon sun and behind it was the half moon. I took two pictures, one with the bird in focus and one with the moon in focus, layered them, and pronounced it a failure; nothing is in focus! I'll try something else if the opportunity arises again. But in looking at the failure, I see the "Ortonesque" style of photograph that was so popular (and that I liked!) a decade ago. So it's not a total loss.
