Most evenings as I cook supper, I have a beer. Or two. This was a few days ago after I brought home a box of the latest Quidi Vidi beer, Fogtown Lager. It's a good beer. I've been drinking it ever since. I heard a story about this brewery but, like all word-of-mouth stories, it may be apocryphal. Who knows? The story goes that, a couple of years ago, the Quidi Vidi brewery hired a new master brewer who, upon starting there, pronounced all their old beers skunky. The owners told him to do nothing to change that -- the beers were all successful among local drinkers and the owners didn't want to jinx anything in the market. Nonetheless, they said, he was free to make new "seasonal" beers to his own liking. And he has done so. Thus several new beers from Quidi Vidi, and this is his most recent addition to their line. The story fits with my tastes since I don't like the old Quidi Vidi beers; I like the new ones which seem to have much cleaner flavours.
