Mt Hope Highway, near Dow Road, in Roxand Township, Michigan. I've photographed this yard and house before-- here , for one, before the front-yard tree fell. I'm pretty sure the place was occupied in my memory, but it's been abandoned for a long time now and seems doomed. The house evidently belonged to Herbert Codding--he's in the middle of this photo --in 1895, though I expect it was built before then. H.L. had an 80 acre farm, about typical for the immediate neighborhood at the time. Those small fields have been combined into a rather larger farm, these days.

About ready to harvest.

I pass this view every time I drive to Kalamazoo and have been promising myself I'd catch it in a photo. So today I stopped. Saddlebag Lake Road, south of Woodbury, Michigan.

Taken at Joan's parents' house while we were working on their patio. The close-by corn is Edna's (that's Joan's sister); the field is on the neighboring farm....

Shot from one of my usual places , but I pointed more-or-less north this time, instead of than my usual east....

Better large. For the most part, our street is residential, but down the road a ways the field behind the cross-street houses comes down to touch the roadside.
