There's something about this farmyard I find appealing. The tiny, now-below-grade-level garage, the small-but-sprawling house, the trees, the outbuildings. Just everything, really.
This photo doesn't even show the stream that runs around the yard's edge. Neat place....

Mount Hope Road, not far from Sunfield, Michigan. There's something about the way this place is laid out that I rather like.

This was taken from Mulliken's Main Street, next to the Post Office, looking across the tracks. A perfect scene for a model railroad.
Uploaded a differently processed version of this photo on 3/10/06. Still too grainy, but the colors are perhaps better.

Two versions of the same photo for today's outtakes. This is my preferred version, but the JPG conversion does bad things to that sky, even if I don't sharpen the photo with unsharp mask.
I got the photo-a-day pix in fairly early a year ago. I didn't really have anything in mind, just "wander around the local farms and photograph something." By this point in the year, that was pretty much my default method when I didn't have a specific photograph planned.
This is one of my favorite local farms. A few days earlier I'd taken a similarly-framed photo, but before the soybeans were harvested. I posted that last week . In monochrome, with a wider perspective, there's a stark look to the scene that the earlier photo doesn't have.
==========
I also posted two versions of the 366 Snaps shot. Since the color version offers an explanation I don't see any need to repeat that.

This photograph is a non-outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps .

Title of " roll :" Around Roxand
Other photos taken on 10/20/2012: I shot nearly 50 early-morning pix of birds at the feeders. None seemed worth publishing.

A second crop of the day's outtake, with most of the sky removed. Explanation here .
This version shows the strength of the Sigma 50mm as a general-purpose lens.

Up to this point I'd mostly shot 366 Snaps photographs inside the house, somewhere in Mulliken, or on trips to and from Grand Ledge. Beginning on March 2 I'd consciously branch out....
Both this outtake and the photo I selected for my daily post ("One White Tree") are early examples of a common 366 Snaps theme--woods across a field, consciously framed to show depth and/or distance. So were most of the rest of the day's shots. While this wasn't the first time last year I just got in the car and drove around photographing the local farms, it was the first time I went out consciously scouting for photo locations.
I'm pretty sure this farm's on Dow Road--likely the Bonley Farm . I'd get better at framing these pics, but I think this one worked out pretty well.

Not exactly sure where I shot this one, though it's somewhere on M-43 between Mulliken and Grand Ledge. Since I know I got out of the car to take some pix near the corner of Cochran, it's likely I this was part of that set, but it doesn't look right for that location.
I rather like this, though. It's a decent black & white sunrise.

A year ago the previous day's snow had stopped. I had an idea for a photograph--of Sunfield's Methodist Church--but first I got breakfast in Grand Ledge and dropped some clothes off at the dry cleaners. (Shown below.)
Not every idea works out, which is why y' take "insurance" shots. While I got a decent pic in Sunfield, it's pretty dull and I went with one of the others. Fortunately, I had several to choose from.

Other photos taken on 1/20/2012: I spent much of the day collecting spare cables and other electronic junk I had stashed here and there around the house, sorting them into groups, and boxing them up. For some reason I dug out my D300 and took 87 pictures of 'em. Perhaps I'll share one or two of those someday. Or not.
I also shot four pictures to support eBay auctions. Y' won't see those.
