On a Mississippi River barge, just below the lock at Guttenberg, Iowa.

There's some sort of large construction project going on at the harbor in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. These folks were doing some of the work the day we were there. Photo shot from the deck of SS Badger.

This is what I like best about watching boats at the Soo: You can see the people who work on these ships. Particularly if the boat's in Macarthur. Engineers Day, 2005.

The crew in the caboose. Connersville, Indiana, in 1993. I'm thinking the train was arriving from Metamora and that we were on the grounds of the local Masonic temple (which was more like a big house). 'Twas a long time ago, now.... We'd soon board the train ourselves. Enjoyed the ride, but weren't much impressed with Metamora, though we liked the barge on the canal. The trains still run; information here . I'm pretty sure I took this photo with a Chinon Genesis III.

Pretty sure that these are the folks who restored our power. Not a great photo, but I need to express our appreciation.
