Gosh I wish I lived there. USCGC Hollyhock in the foreground. And a couple fishermen, each tending a handful of poles. Over the years I've taken dozens of versions of this photograph.

And clouds. But you probably noticed those.

Now a NOAA facility, as the sign over the door shows. Apparently this color scheme restores the original, though the materials have changed. Another photo from our Muskegon visit a couple weekends ago. A quick web search demonstrates that this century-old building's had several paint jobs.

The harbor at Ashtabula, Ohio, on a cloudy but sunlit day in 1991. We'd started the day in Kalamazoo, driven to Erie, Pennsylvania, then began working our way back home with stops at most of Ohio's Lake Erie harbors. Each harbor has its own personality.... The "bridge" is a conveyor between the coal (taconite?) yard/dock (off the screen to your left) and the trains beyond the Coast Guard station. No idea what that ship is. Camera: Chinon Genesis III. Added to Cream of the Crop as my current personal favorite picture.
