A House Finch chases a Chipping Sparrow from our feeder. They'd been sharing the feeder for several minutes. Then something changed. I like this photo enough that I'm ignoring its technical shortcomings; I was shooting through a reflection on our window, and that shows.

Bang! Knocked you clean off your feet! These two have been quarrelling about something (territory) for days. This afternoon the grackle was repeatedly assaulting the squirrel, whose only real effort to protect himself was to hide under his tail while he ate beneath the feeder. ============== Shot with an ill-set-up camera--I'd been taking photos for eBay sales--through a dirty window....

Former Toronto, Boston, and Houston manager Jimy Williams, now an instructor in the Devil Rays farm system, contests a call by umpire De'Andre Anderson at Battle Creek's CO Brown Stadium. Jimy'd already been ejected from the game. July 3, 2006. I spent Monday evening wandering around the ballpark, taking pictures and chatting with other long-time Battle Creek season ticket holders. Although for the most part we know each other only casually, we have many shared memories. This animated discussion set us all to talking about Billy Gardner, Jr. , who's remembered in BC partly for his short fuse. Original photo here . 416 game photos here .

Explored! #112 [5/29/2013]. (No longer in the top 500; so goes Explored.) Thanks everyone. A year ago today it was just gorgeous, and I had one or another camera in hand all day.
