This weekend we replaced our old Weber grill with a similar, but updated, edition. I've got a soft spot for Palatine. The League of American Wheelmen Bicyclists was reborn in the Chicago area in the mid-1960s, and when I joined the League in 1973, Phyllis Harmon presided over the League's headquarters, which were in Palatine. Not that this has anything to do with the grill. But the unexpected Palatine mention provoked pleasant memories.

Somewhere in Illinois. When we travel, Joan drives and I shoot pictures. She claims the "shoot pictures" part is pretty annoying.

Rock Falls, Illinois. A dreadfully busy snapshot of a house I spotted while we were loading Debbie's stuff into the truck. I love the roofline, and the odd porch. Mebbe someday I'll try doing the ericdege thing to this one....

Explored! #171 on Flickr [August 24, 2013] Thanks! We drove across Illinois today; tomorrow we'll be moving my sister from Rock Falls, where she's been an intern pastor, back to Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Found some rather frightening sky on Interstate 80, 'round 'bout Peru.
