While this light is easily visible from Cheboygan Point on the Lake Huron beach at Cheboygan State Park, the Shepler/Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association cruise took us quite close to the light. This light was never permanently staffed; instead the light was controlled from the Poe Light facility.

Both the Poe and 14 Foot Shoal lights have permanently-active fog signals. This light's horn is audible all night from the Cheboygan State Park campground. I find it oddly comforting.
