Glen Haven

One photo, three treatments . As though shot with Kodak's high-contrast Kodalith film. Few of my pictures actually work as Kodalith images, so I was fairly pleased with this one.

One photo, three treatments . This is pretty much the picture as it came out of the camera, according to Bibble . I've cropped it a bit, brightened it a touch, and sharpened it slightly.

The Sleeping Bear Inn

Those of you who've been paying attention know that Glen Haven's my favorite place. Period. The Park Service website tells me that this waterfront hotel dates from about 1865 (it says 1857 on the building), with an addition "a few years later" and the porch enclosed in the 1920s. I sometimes wish it was still a functioning hostelry. The Park's done a lot of work on the Glen Haven shoreline since we last visited--fences, mostly, but some other work as well. Probably it's a good thing.

Glen Haven

Glen Haven, Michigan (Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore); the DH Day Store on the right, the Cannery at the end of the road, and Lake Michigan beyond that. There are a handful of other buildings "in town," but this is the essence of the place. One photo, three treatments . This was the photo I was intending (my camera's set to take black & white these days; the color versions are real enough, but don't reflect what I'm shooting). Bibble's Andy plugin says this is a Tri-X photo on Portra paper, which has always been pretty much my old "normal" for black and white.

DH Day Farm

It's been so hot this week I thought I'd recall our February excursion to Sleeping Bear.
