I've been playing with DxO's OpticsPro photo processing software all afternoon. Thought I'd share a few examples. Another photo from the same vacation, again testing the OpticsPro's ClearView feature. It seems to work, even on a JPG original.

Another shot from our climb up Sleeping Bear dune. Glen Arbor, Michigan, more or less. Or Glen Haven. Or something.

Not big breakers; I've seen far larger waves on Lake Michigan. But these were running counter to an impressive headwind just as they hit the sandbars. The Manitou Islands in the background.

From Glen Haven. How can you not love a place that looks like this?

This used to be M-209--"Michigan's shortest state highway". Sleeping Bear Inn on the right, the Day Store on the left, the Blacksmith Shop beyond the store, and a handful of houses. Even in its prime this was a tiny place.

Now a museum. Glen Haven was first a logging port, then a fruit canning operation. By my first visit (in 1961) it was entirely devoted to tourists.

Those of you who've been paying attention know that Glen Haven's my favorite place. Period. The Park Service website tells me that this waterfront hotel dates from about 1865 (it says 1857 on the building), with an addition "a few years later" and the porch enclosed in the 1920s. I sometimes wish it was still a functioning hostelry. The Park's done a lot of work on the Glen Haven shoreline since we last visited--fences, mostly, but some other work as well. Probably it's a good thing.
