Hosting a bit of bindweed, unfortunately. Gosh I've posted a lot of coneflower photos this year!

Coneflowers

03 Aug 2013 1 114
In early August our July blossoms--Coneflowers and Lilies and Black-eyed Susans and most of the Daylilies--are fading. The Stonecrops and Hibiscus that succeed 'em are attractive, but at this point much of the color in the yard comes from the annuals. I wandered the yard photographing all of those last August 2. Some--like these Coneflowers--were taken at an 80 mm focal length, others ( this Hibiscus , for instance) were at 200 mm, with others at intermediate lengths. The results were generally excellent, in my view. ========== Just before taking these pix I made my daily trip to the Thriftway. On my return I spotted a crop duster, and attempted to get pictures, but was foiled by the camera, which was still set for manual exposures. Generally speaking it's easier to shoot manual-exposure with the D300 than the V1, but only if you're in practice. I wasn't, and badly overexposed a couple dozen photographs. When I got home I reset the camera to my more normal Aperture-priority setup. Somehow I never tried manual exposure settings on this camera again during the 366 Snaps project. I should work on that. ========== This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps . Number of project photos taken: 20 Title of " roll :" Around the Yard Other photos taken on 8/2/2012: As described above, my efforts to photograph a crop duster failed. I'm still sad about that.
