Banjo

Steve Dilling, again (well, his banjo anyway), at the 2007 Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival. And Russell Moore's guitar. Here's hoping Steve's retirement helps his health concerns.

Gibby

Cam Gibson is MIchigan State University's left fielder--and Kirk Gibson's son. This Gibby, like his father, is great fun to watch. Photo taken at Stryker Field in Kalamazoo, where Gibson's Spartans defeated the Western Michigan Broncos by a 5-4 score. Original photo here . 98 game photographs here .

Anthony Dixon

Dixon pitches for the (Wausau) Wisconsin Woodchucks, in the wooden-bat summer collegiate Northwoods League. This pitch was to Cam Gibson of the Battle Creek Bombers. BC won the game, 8-4. (There's something about Wisconsin @ Battle Creek that throws me. Sends me back to 2003 in the Midwest League, T'Rats @ Yanks.) And yeah, I've got a pretty good seat at Battle Creek's CO Brown Stadium. Original photo here . 362 game photos here .

Hey! It Says Kaline on that Man's Back!

Yup. This is Colin Kaline, and his grandfather's in Baseball's Hall of Fame. Colin played third base for the West Michigan Whitecaps (a Tigers farm) last night. The 'Caps also have a Leyland (Patrick--Jim's son), an Avila (Nick--Alex's cousin, Al's nephew), and a Lemon (Marcus--Chet's son) on their roster. Definitely some Tiger in that ancestry. Original photo here . 568 not particularly good game photos here .

Shadowplay

Center Fielder Jackson Brennan fields a fly ball off the wall around the middle of Battle Creek, Michigan's, last home Midwest League game. (Ever.) The Rays won, 5-2. Beloit @ Southwest Michigan, 8/31/2006. Already I miss you, guys. Original (quite different) version of this photo here . More photos from the game here .

Edgar Loudermilk

At the Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival, last June. I do believe he's spotted me. Edgar played bass for IIIrd Tyme Out for nearly seven years. Since I took this photo he's set out on his own, in partnership with Dave Adkins .
