Built by the CCC at Hartwick Pines State Park. The point, it could be said, is that the park's best feature is a stand of White Pine that was deliberately spared from the loggers.

The Trail to Emerson

Emerson was a lumber town at the mouth of the Tahquamenon River on Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay. It's gone; calling it a ghost town would exaggerate its current status. Basically there's nothing there.
Except this trail to the site , in the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It's a worthwhile walk. We visited it on the first day of July in 2003.
