Things change. Kagin's name was New Dining Hall in when I was a freshman in 1967; by my 1982 graduation it had its current name but was still a dining hall. These days it's apparently become an office and event space, and folks eat elsewhere on campus. Markim Hall's new since my last visit to the campus--the Winton Health Center used to occupy this spot. The Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship lives here. When I was a student we talked about Walter Mondale, an alumnus, and Hubert Humphrey, who'd taught at Mac. These days the school's most prominent alumnus is the former UN Secretary-General.

Thomas Edison lived in Port Huron for a few years when he was young. This waterfront statue portrays him as a youngster. He worked out of the nearby (and still standing) railroad depot for several years before going on to better things. The depot's now a museum, devoted to Edison's Port Huron years.

The West Michigan Whitecaps gave away this bobblehead of Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers to the first 1,000 folks who showed up at last Thursday's playoff game against Lansing. (Can't really recommend my photo set for that game, by the way; both the camera and the long lens are acting old old old. The long lens at least has the excuse that it is old.) Kenny pitched a rehab game at West Michigan in June see Em Smith 's pictures) (especially this one ), so the Whitecaps uniform has some authenticity. This photo's in both of my flickr streams....
