A weed, and pretty annoying in my yard--but the flowers are attractive.

People buy macro lenses to photograph all sorts of things, but there's a reason the compact cameras label macro mode with a tulip.... ========== This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps . 366 Snaps project discussion and stats for October 7 .

Chicory

Suddenly our yard was full of pretty blue flowers. These guys are weeds, but they're really attractive weeds. The 366 Snaps project photographs were mostly chicory a year ago, with the important exception of this Trumpet Vine pic, which I actually shot in color. ========== Using the Nikon 1 V1 to capture monochrome images generates still another version of the "black and white is partly an attitude" conundrum. When the camera's set to monochrome, the V1's electronic viewfinder shows me greyscale images, so I'm framing the photographs in black & white--but once again my software ignores the b&w flag JPG in the Nikon NEF (RAW) file and shows me the pix in living color. Thus today's originally-monochrome photograph comes to you in these bright colors. Enjoy! ========== This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps . Who Invited You?

Durned Bindweed! Weary, perhaps, from Saint Ignace, the bluegrass festival, and two photo excursions to local villages, I stayed home a year ago. I shot a few pix around the yard, then photographed the buildings right close to the post office when I checked the mail. ========== The three buildings in the 366 Snaps photo are across from the P.O. Or, more properly, were across from the P.O.; the building on the right was demolished a few weeks back, along with the wall that seemed to extend its facade. When I moved to Mulliken, the center building housed a beauty parlor. The building on the left--it's as small as it probably looks--housed a veterinary clinic for a while. Both seem to be homes--or, more likely, one home--now; the foundation of the removed building's become sort of a patio. ========== This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps .
