When I headed out this morning I was looking for a photo like this one. Found it, but the weather turned out to be a more compelling subject. Oneida Road, south of Grand Ledge, Michigan.

A rather larger John Deere. The soybeans are harvested, so it's time to turn the soil. I imagine they'll follow that by planting winter wheat. South of Mulliken, Michigan.

A couple years ago I posted a photo of a burning house . Someone's been (slowly) cleaning up the lot; this tractor's pretty much all that remains of a yard that was mostly full of junk. If you ignore a still-smoking ruin where the house used to live. It's a not the same fire--they piled a bunch of junk on the wreck and set that afire--but this one's been smoking, now, for months.

On the Michigan Peat grounds. The tractor's twisted because it's up on blocks--looks like an abandoned repair job.

The outbuildings at the farm get visibly closer to collapse every time we visit.

I've shown you this fellow before ; he lives across town, which is to say a couple blocks away. You'll notice that they've built him a platform since our last visit. This photo's severely Photoshopped; first I sharpened it up in Bibble, then I diffused it in PSE. Works for me.

Between the Saint Ignace trip and the Bluegrass Festival I'd only barely been home for over a week last June 24. So I spent the day doing laundry and working in the yard. Since I'd got the tractor out to mow down the weeds in the lawn, it became my photo subject.
