Finally a half-way decent picture of this bird. He's often in my yard, but very uncooperative.

Not entirely certain whether to cheer because I finally got a passable photograph of this bird, or to groan because the pic's not quite in proper focus.... Looked out the window to see this guy perched on the feeder's hook and looking back at me. Figured it would be an opportunity to play some more with the Nikon 1 V1/Minolta 75-200 zoom setup. Since the other Nuthatches, several Cardinals, the Chickadees, and the Tufted Titmice were all in attendance, it seemed likely I could get something I liked. Yup, I did. But (as you can see) I need to work on focus issues. Particularly with this bird, who never sits long in any one place. I did get some better photos, but not of this fellow. They'll be along presently, with some more commentary about the camera/lens combination.

For 366 Snaps I photographed the light on the garage, with an observation about December's short days for the photo's title.... ========== Really that was the entire photo-a-day effort. While I shot many photographs of birds last May 24--I called the folder "The Swallow, the Blackbird, the Nuthatch"--I chose to post one of the best pix I ever took of our cat, Taffy. Which undermines my argument about the camera's limitations , I suppose. ========== Before they built the neighborhood around us we always had blackbirds, but now they're relatively rare at our feeders. But every day, now, we get nuthatches, which we rarely saw fifteen years ago. Y' win some, y' lose some. ========== This photograph is an outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps .
