A year or so after I bought this house I planted a couple Mugo Pines near the corner of the back yard. One of those had an infant Oak hidden in its midst, so I unexpectedly got a bonus tree. This picture shows both, intermixed.
And the pic's title reflects (reveals?) my affection for Alexander Kent, Patrick O'Brian, C.S. Forester, and their ilk. What can I say?

Last April 22 I wandered around the yard with the FujiFilm F200, shooting pix I thought looked interesting. Each photo has something to recommend itself, but on the whole none worked really well.
I'm happy with the trumpet vine pic I posted a year ago. That bird house post used to have a trellis attached, but the vine broke it.
Since the other pix are unsatisfactory, I've (again) decided to post a photo I took with the V1--a product of another, similar, session of experiments in backyard photography, taken later the same day.
