Dew on the Daisy

Our Painted Daisies are open, now, too. Experimenting this morning with a replacement lens on my V1; the original 10-30 mm broke (a completely typical failure , I see) and I've hustled up a replacement because it's pretty much my default lens. This one's white, which looks a bit odd on the black camera, but the main thing is that it evidently works well.

Things have changed here on Flickr; it might take some getting used to. On the other hand, looks like I can stop complaining about Flickr being "relentlessly white."

Thought I'd brighten up a grey day with one of last summer's flowers.

A flower a day for January .... I really like Marguerite daisies, but always they fail me in mid-summer. Or I fail them. Or something. Anyway, if all my gardening projects worked out like that, I wouldn't garden.

Because none of the outtakes from last June 5 are worth sharing, you get this flower shot. Inevitably, since I was mostly shooting flowers a year ago, while I figured out the Nikon 1. As I noted yesterday, it generally took me a few days to get comfortable with the month's 366 Snaps camera. While I'd taken lots of photos with an Olympus C-50, I'd last used that camera seriously in 2005. So the first few days of June were definitely a learning experience. Last June 5 I drove around the block section for 366 Snaps , taking photos of the local farms and sky. The result was 13 photographs, only one of which could possibly be called "publishable." ========== I take lots of "field with sky" photographs, most of 'em framed to demonstrate depth of field by showing layers of scenic features. The daily (it's below, in the first comment) could be considered such a shot. The camera's pointed toward the Village of Mulliken across the Spitzley ( originally Potter ) land east of town. And there's a train on the old PM mainline. This is the only 366 Snaps photo with an actual train. It's a terrible train shot, and except for the sky only a marginal photograph. There are a few other shots in the photo-a-day set which reveal my railfan tendencies (I tend to call m'self a "recovering railfan"), but no others show actual trains. Joan bought me a scanner for m' birthday. I expect I'll succumb someday soon. ========== This photograph is an outtake (well, not really; it was taken on the same date, though) from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps . Number of project photos taken: 13 Title of " roll :" Clouds & Farm Equipment Other photos taken on 6/5/2012: The Nikon 1 V1 got a fairly serious workout, between the Daily Flower Census and a couple hundred bird shots. Many of the bird photos were of woodpeckers.
