There's some sort of large construction project going on at the harbor in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. These folks were doing some of the work the day we were there. Photo shot from the deck of SS Badger.

Our original plan was a checkerboard, but when we started to build the patio we discovered that the red squares were 1/4" smaller than the grey squares (we foolishly assumed that 12" meant 12"). Thus, stripes. Thanks, Lowes. That last row's gonna be painful. Patio project; Joan's parents' house. We'll get done tomorrow.

We spent 2002 in a construction project, as the developer built Brittney Lane beside our house and prepared to develop Mulliken Meadows in the field behind our place. One mid-summer day I took this photo of a power shovel digging across the field. This view is now very different--a twister got the trees last summer, there's now a house just beyond the lilac hedge, and there's a nearly completed new house about where the digger was working that day.
