Snow on the <strike>Azalea</strike> Quince

I really intended to stop with the Quince pictures, but under the circumstances I couldn't resist.
<strike>Azalea</strike> Quince

For much of the summer our Azalea flowering quince has a few flowers, but they're hidden deep inside the bush, behind all the leaves and the wicked thorns. Right now, though, there are hundreds of blossoms, and few leaves.
=============
FWIW, I've become convinced this bush is really a quince, despite my Mom's belief it was an azalea. The rest of the story at that link stands, regardless.
New Garden

The garden we planted last spring. The bluebird's a sculpture/ornament, not a real bird.
Photographs can distort reality, despite folks claims to the contrary. This photo makes the garden look far more densely-packed than it actually is; it will be a couple years before we're fully satisfied with the arrangement. On the other hand we only lost one plant over the winter; we've replaced that.

Turns out Joan's also been photographing the Azalea. Nice shot.

Dad's <strike>Azalea</strike> Flowering Quince
17 Apr 2005 |

One of the mementos Mom received when Dad passed away was this Azalea Quince (there's a story about that strikeout). When she couldn't get it to flourish in her yard, Mom offered it to me. In my yard it's been very successful; in fact, we've found it necessary to trim it back a couple times a year. If I'd known how well it would grow, I'd not have put it by the house.
It's about to flower.
