Lily!

12 Jul 2014 1 155
I expect this will be the last lily photo of the season (ignoring the daylilies, of course, who are just getting started) because this is the last--and best--of our lilies to blossom. This one's a bit of a surprise, actually. The plant's been growing beside the yuccas for several years, but it's never blossomed before. Last year, in fact, it grew up badly twisted and frankly looked quite weird. This year, though, the plant's glorious. Nearly six feet tall and fully mature, dwarfing every nearby plant. I'm quite pleased.

A Spirea Bouquet

My Spirea bushes are, for much of the year, pretty ugly, and they're far too small to form an effective (and much-needed) windbreak. But for a few days each spring they bless us with these pretty flowers. Pays the rent.

A flower a day for January .... This plant begins flowering in June and keeps going into December, pretty much regardless of Michigan's weather.

Lily

A flower a day for January .... Most of these flower shots were made with my Sigma 50mm 1:2.8 DG Macro lens, which I purchased last spring. I'm quite delighted with it; this photo shows why.

A flower a day for January .... Dunno that I'd ever noticed before that Dusty Miller has flowers.
