September 2011.
The book is 'Chronicles of a Friendship' by the late Robert Craft. The Friend in question is the composer Igor Stravinsky (1882 - 1971) and this dried oak leaf reminded me of Stravinsky's neo-classical music called 'Dumbarton Oakes'.

Chronicle Of Vital Individual Distancing, day 76.
"Real poems for unreal times". Book of 500 poems edited by Neil Astley and published by Bloodaxe.
The cover photograph by Carles Fargas has only the eye and eyelashes in focus; hence my idea of restricting the focus in my picture to minimal proportions.
A meld of two DNGs, one of them with pulled focus. Affinity Photo software.

Chronicle Of Vital Individual Distancing, day 38.
“Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
William Butler Yeats (1865 – 1939)
Respectfully presented in the ‘light and the half-light’ of my bedside table.

Remembering Igor Stravinsky

One of the most innovative and influential of western musicians, his musical ideas are still heard with alarming frequency in 'new' film and TV scores. His dates were 1882-1971 and he composed until 1968.
Vesna Svyashchenaya, ' Spring the Sacred' or Le Sacre du Printemps (Scenes from Pagan Russia) provoked a famous riot when first performed in Paris in 1913.

This picture is an attempt to accurately reflect the tones and colours of this 1946 publication. Very little digital processing involved, white balance set in camera (probably using a sheet of white paper).
