Not altogether sure why, but this creeps me out.

I'm not too sure if Hero Stele is the name of the sculptor or another name for the sculpture. It's in the Zhenhai War Memorial Museum, and is called Call to Arms I think.

The locals in Zhenhai, are proud of the "Battle of Zhenhai." It was a battle between the French and the Chinese during the Sino-French War. The French claim that they just lobbed a few canonballs at the mainland, and stopped boats leaving the port. The Chinese claim that they tied up a number of French battle shops for the duration of the war, reducing the impact of the French Navy. Both are probably true.
