Spiranthes cernua (Nodding Ladies'-tresses orchid)

Walter Ezell and I made a day trip to a couple of sites in north Georgia. One of these was a site for Fringed Gentian, a plant not found growing wild in our home state of South Carolina. The next site we visited was a hilly seepage where orchids and other unusual wildflowers grow in profusion.

This is the result of a day trip to northeast Georgia with my buddy, Alan Cressler . I especially wanted to catch the Fringed Gentian covered with morning dew. There was a large field just full of them. We also visited another nearby site for some interesting fall wildflowers.
