On June 5-8, 2017, we participated in the Native Orchid Conference symposium (the 16th annual symposium) in Scanterbury, Manitoba, Canada. We had two days of presentations and two days of field trips, one of which took us to Brokenhead Wetland Reserve. Here is a sample of all of the wildflowers and orchids we saw at this site. This year's Native Orchid Conference symposium was held on July 14-17 at Lake Itasca, Minnesota. The first day's field trip was to Iron Spring Bog, near Lake Itasca. I was excited about visiting this bog, since it was home to a little-seen orchid, Malaxis paludosa or Bog Adder's-mouth orchid as well as a number of other orchid species.
