Rice's Creek has always been a good location for this orchid species. This year was no exception. They love to be in very wet places. This particular location is inundated several times during the year -- particularly during hurricanes. This is the remainder of my flower images from the past weekend spent in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This is the location for the Green Swamp Preserve -- a local treasure managed by The Nature Conservancy. TNC performs prescribed burns and otherwise insures that this wonderful area is kept in a state that allows orchids and other wildflowers to thrive.
