These images represent the remainder of the images I took at The Nature Conservancy's McLean Savannah in Pender County, North Carolina. I never saw so many Pitcher Plants in a single location as were on this one savannah.

There was a mowed roadside meadow following Hwy. 130 in Columbus County for a mile or so. In this meadow were many flowering plants of Calopogon pallidus.

It is a bit unusual to find this species with more than one flower in bloom at the same time.

This plant hosted a cricket-like critter on one of its buds.

There was a mowed roadside meadow following Hwy. 130 in Columbus County for a mile or so. In this meadow were dozens of Calopogon tuberosus flowers of every imaginable color from white to deep magenta.

There was a mowed roadside meadow following Hwy. 130 in Columbus County for a mile or so. In this meadow were dozens of Calopogon tuberosus flowers of every imaginable color from white to deep magenta.
This particular flower is definitely a cross between C. tuberosus and C. pallidus with intermediate characteristics of both.

I believe this particular flower has a touch of C. pallidus in its ancestry.
