Walter and I made a day trip to Devil's Fork State Park in Pickens County, South Carolina. What I was hoping to find was early signs of Monotropsis odorata or Pigmy Pipes also known as Sweet Pinesap growing out of the ground but still under the leaf litter. Since they won't be in full bloom until mid-March, they are not much to look at. But, I wanted to document their early appearance.
