Compass on wall of Long Room, Custom House. I am puzzled as to the purpose of having a compass fixed to the wall of a building. It's hardly going to change direction is it? Or have I missed the point?

I am confused. Why would you want to walk to Highbury & Islington station to get to either Archway or the Angel from the Emirates? They're both on the Northern which doesn't go from H&I but you can get the bus to either of them from Holloway Rd which is just a few minutes walk away... (or is it something to do with match day restrictions?)
