King's Cross - new concourse

27 Mar 2012 124
The new concourse at King's Cross is magnificent, stunning and irresistibly photogenic. The problem is, we're all taking the same pictures. The real challenge is to get an original take on it. Or even better, one that can fool gwl...

Wharf Road N1C

These new King's Cross postcodes seem all wrong to me. NC1 would sort of make sense but N1C?

Poor old Goods Way. Definitely having an identity crisis. No longer the Borough of St Pancras and soon to be N1C instead of NW1...

King's Boulevard N1C

28 Mar 2012 117
Another new street. Leading down from Goods Way to the station. I thought a boulevard was supposed to be a broad avenue with trees up the middle? Maybe the trees are coming soon. These new King's Cross postcodes seem all wrong to me. NC1 would sort of make sense but N1C? Added to that, the signs themselves seem slightly unreal as they're situated on the green leafy hoarding surrounding the development site which gives the impression that they're something out of a movie rather than a real street.

Handyside Street N1C

28 Mar 2012 136
This is the new street leading down to the new St Martin's art school. Wonder how they came up with the name? Can just imagine someone asking, during the redevelopment, "How do you get down to the new art college building?" The reply might have been "Just go down that handy side street..." And so a new name was born. These new King's Cross postcodes seem all wrong to me. NC1 would sort of make sense but N1C? Added to that, the signs themselves seem slightly unreal as they're situated on the green leafy hoarding surrounding the development site which gives the impression that they're something out of a movie rather than a real street.
