So this is interesting...after I uploaded this same photo to my Facebook account, I noticed the shadow at the door. When I took the photo, I made sure there was nobody in front of the store. I'm trying to figure out what caused this one shadow, because it really looks like a person walking up the stairs, but that can't be. There is nothing in the middle of the walkway. It could be a shadow cast from the pile of stuff on the right, but I didn't use a flash...I'm stumped. My other photos from that night don't show this blob, so it isn't a smudge on the camera or dust.
town meeting day

Ah, the New England tradition! We voted on Tuesday, as tradition, and today we voted on budget matters.
from Wikipedia:
Traditional town meetings
Traditional Town Meetings, or Open Meetings, are held annually on the second Tuesday of March to choose town officers and the transaction of all other town business. Town selectmen are also permitted to call special town meetings as warranted, although these must be approved by a judge if they involve budgetary expenditures or changes. Town meetings are prohibited, by state law, from being held on the biennial election day, which is typically held in November to elect county, state and national officials.
A town moderator is allowed under state law to adjourn a meeting that has run for a very long period and reconvene it at a later date, usually one week from the date of the meeting, and usually in the same location, in order to finish the town's business.
snow cleanse

Many years ago a farm wife told me that the best way to clean your braided rugs during the winter was to take them out after a snowfall -the kind that is powdery and dry - cover your rugs with the snow, let it set for a few minutes, then sweep it off with a broom. This doesn't actually clean the rugs, but it does freshen them up a bit and get rid of a little winter grime. I now do that with most of my area rugs. I wonder how many of these old secrets have been lost on the disposable generation?
