I'm a guest in my mother's home for the time being, but it's great that she's open to letting me do my thing. Thank goodness my love of gardening and plants was inherited from her! Top shelf - 6 varieties of tomato, sweet and hot peppers, and radicchio. Bottom shelf - various flower seeds collected from my garden left behind.

Starting my plants! This year I'm hoping to grow tomatoes, cukes, sweet peppers, and herbs. Lots of herbs! Shown above is kale. I'm quite excited for spring!

I went to a seed exchange at a local garden center. Bring whatever you have, take whatever strikes your fancy. Hopefully next year I'll be able to bring something other than leftover commercial seeds! But look at my score; rudbeckia, mallow, beebalm, cosmos...there were so many interesting seed there, it was hard to choose! In the end I went with flowers over vegetables, because I don't know how my well is going to fare.

This jack-in-the-pulpit is huge - it stands about 3 feet tall, and the leaves are about 10 - 12 inches in length; it's the largest I've ever seen. I refer to it as my Jurassic Jack. Guess I found the perfect spot for her! This is, I believe, her fourth year producing a flower with berries. I've found clusters of tiny male plants all around the garden she calls home.

Started some hot peppers today - Cherry Bomb Red Hot Chile, Bulgaria Carrot, and Paper Lantern. Let the gardening season begin.
