Thanks for the grub!

I found and old fiberglass transformer cover for sale and bought it to use as a raised garden bed. It looks for all the world like a giant window box. Before everything froze up I stuck branches of anything that looked tempting to birds into the soil. I don't like putting out feeders, but I'll gladly offer up a natural buffet. The little Juncos are in the "garden" all day long, flitting through the branches and picking away at the seeds. I like to think this little one was saying thank you. crankyoldyankee.blogspot.com/2021/11/first-snowtime-to-wrap-it-up.html

tit for tat

I went to a seed exchange at a local garden center. Bring whatever you have, take whatever strikes your fancy. Hopefully next year I'll be able to bring something other than leftover commercial seeds! But look at my score; rudbeckia, mallow, beebalm, cosmos...there were so many interesting seed there, it was hard to choose! In the end I went with flowers over vegetables, because I don't know how my well is going to fare.

I started my tomato plants about a month too soon, so under the advice of a local plant guru I moved them to a cool area (I keep the spare rooms shut up for the winter, this is the girls room) where they will get filtered light. This should keep them from getting too leggy too soon. Apparently it's a magical area, as hinted by the rainbow in the corner. ;)
