I went down to the river to get some early morning foliage shots, and was treated to this spectacular sight.

Not the greatest of shots. Hard to photograph him when he's backlit and so high up!

I was killing time waiting for my laundry to be done, and took the dog down to the river nearby. I was looking around for something interesting to photograph when I spotted a bunch of birds roosting in a dead tree nearby. Shot some photos and was surprised to discover the birds were pigeons; not something you expect to see in the wild...maybe the wilds of downtown Boston or New York, but not here. I was even more surprised while I was shooting to have this eagle swoop into frame, flush the pigeons off their roosts, and fly off.

I've been seeing this eagle for a few days now, but he's hanging in a spot I can't get close to. GRRRRR. Also, I think that might be a cat he's eating. Ewww.
