This goober rock was about 3 feet down in the hole - I could barely reach it with my short arms! I did manage to get a rope around it and pulled it up that way.

ugh

Gotta love digging in New Hampshire. I swear, this land is 80% rocks, 15% ledge, and 5% pleasantly diggable materials.

Who goes there?

Caught this snapping turtle digging a nest near the edge of a small swampy area. I was worried she'd wander into the road since she couldn't see, but when she was done she turned and slid down the embankment and into the water, and the clod of dirt slid off her head.

The lilac bushes transplanted to their new home on the outside of the fence. They should bush out and provide a little camouflage to conceal the netting of the cat fence as they grow.

On to the next project! These lilac bushes needed to come out so that I could dig the granite post in order to re-set it. The area to the right behind the post is where I drive through with my garden tractor, and because the yard is a giant bowl, I'm always terrified the tractor will tip and roll down the incline. Once the bushes are transplanted, it's on to the next project - a retaining wall where the bushes used to be. No rest for the wicked!

It's not called the Granite State for nothing! Two and a half feet down and these are the rocks I had to dig out to get that far.
